Sustainability in 2022

The importance of environmental sustainability as a corporate and budget consideration has increased in the last few years.

Industry Week’s recent sustainability article included several environmental reminders of note:

✓ When setting targets don’t ignore the impact of your supply chains and strong sourcing guidelines – regional supply chains have economic as well as environmental benefits

✓ Energy management starts at construction and production design

✓ Product design should include end-of-life considerations – as evidenced by increasing lawsuits tied to the ecological impact of microplastics

✓ Sustainability is a long-term investment, not a short term capex reduction – but initiatives shouldn’t cost more than you end up saving overall.

ISO 14001 certification or not, a sustainable environment benefits us all.
