What is ISO 9001 & why do I need it?
For many small companies the whole concept of quality assurance, quality management systems, and especially ISO 9001 certification can seem overwhelming. But the truth is, ISO 9001 is really just good business practices written down. And all it asks is that you follow a few basic guidelines to ensure that your company’s product or service is consistent.
It doesn’t have to be big, complicated, expensive or time consuming – ”The extent of the quality management system documentation can differ from one organization to another due to a) the size of organization and type of activities, b) the complexity of processes and their interactions, and c) the competence of personnel.” (Section 4.2.1 of ISO 9001:2008). And for those who want to prove their system is working well they can get certified to say that their QMS meets the requirements of this international quality standard.
Ready to save time, money, and brain cells? – say what you do, do what you say, check your results, and act on the difference. In other words, implement an ISO 9001:2008 compliant QMS and get certified.
